A techno-fantasy with an interesting take on a familiar premise that actually has a lot going for it - setting, music, colorful characters, generally strong voice acting, and arresting action sequences; but, it is also fair to say that it is uneven in its storytelling, its writing and plotting swinging from amateurish to polished and back again with regular tempo. This is particularly problematic in later volumes where the show suffers frequently from self-inflicted wounds - mechanical, uninspired plotting, relentless fan service and lethargic writing counting prominently among its numerous sins and robbing it of what could have been a "must see" status. That said, it does have its share of [good] moments and is worth a look-see, particularly if you are generous and willing to look past its numerous flaws and appreciate it for what it is rather than what it could have been.
