Most people don't know the plight of the poor Immigrants from Ireland who were sold as indentured servants from England. I think it was left out of the history books and I wish March could be Irish History Month since I did not know the suffering my ancestors endured to come to America. The overtone of this movie reminded me of the Godfather movie, except with a tough Irish poor orphan who's education and street smarts made him fight harder to achieve what he thought was success regardless of the legality or how powerful the opponent or the results of his decisions. Unfortunately he had no idea how strong the corrupt element is and his desire for more led to his demise (Greed). Just another example of a deadly Sin.
It was a pretty good movie but being Irish I don't want to throw potatoes or beer bottles but I wish he had the IRA to back him against the mob
You cannot Jeopardize your family for illegal riches but that appeared to be all he knew and his (Pride) fighting to strong of foe was his demise
