This is a seriously very good Godzilla movie. The acting may seem a smidge overacted occasionally but it's likely exactly the nuance the Japanese audience expects. Overall the acting is very convincing, and I have to say it's fantastic in many scenes. This is a movie with a group of character actors that really enrich the experience, like so many classic American movies from the 70s and 80s. The creators crafted a story with WWII era Japanese culture, incredible and suspenseful action, and a healthy helping of love and compassion. I enjoyed every minute of it.
