I thought it was unique, most of these reviews talk about how "it's disgusting!" but those morons don't understand that children by the age of 6-7 have seen a horror movie like Halloween or Friday the thirteenth.
if I'm being honest though the series is very bland... sure I invested time in watching the show but it didn't really have a consistent or good narrative, the reasoning behind so many things that happen in this show also make me raise an eyebrow, like when Hansel and Gretel go back to their parents because the old guy said the parents had a reason for chopping their heads off, but than the explanation as to why was so bad... another time they find out the father was the dragon who was terrorizing the whole kingdom (even though it was very obvious that he was the dragon) and so they chop his head off and than sew it with the magical thread, it doesn't work at first but than Hansel and Gretel made the thread work somehow because it was powered by children's tears? that makes literally no sense though since it originally worked on little girls being kidnapped by the warlock and turning them into birds.
the personality of the characters is questionable at best, and annoying at worst, the female crow is the most annoying character of the bunch if I'm being honest, all she did was make unfunny and dumb comments, the parents cut the head of their own children just to revive an old man who probably would have died within the next year or so, Hansel and Gretel were honestly more in the middle when it came to likeability, and honestly the most likeable character (at least in my opinion), was the old man only because he provided wisdom to Hansel going into hell and giving a good story about how he died, while also building a character, the only other likeable character was the fat crow who was more concerned for the audience about what would happen while also telling us that the writers are self aware the show is pretty gruesome for a children's show, and finally the devil who was the biggest disappointment in this whole show, originally he started out as witty and smart, perceptive and cunning, but than they did a complete 180 during the later half of the show and made him so stupid that he ended up being tricked by Hansel who dressed as the devils grandma? yea I questioned a bit about that too tbh...
despite it's very obvious flaws and overly cartoonish art style I think the show was pretty good, not great but it was still watchable and I was able to find some enjoyment about a few scenes in the show like when it's revealed that none of the demons were actually torturing the souls in hell, and that they were all in fact being tortured in their minds with the sins they committed and the guilt that overwhelms them of the things they did.
would I recommend you watch the show? well not really to be honest... mainly because the show was pretty boring at points and the animation is nothing to praise, its not like I wouldn't suggest you watch it either, but it's up to you if you want to watch this movie.
