If Amy Adams, Glenn Close, and Ron Howard (director) do not receive Oscar nominations, it will be a great surprise. The film captures the nonstop emotional roller-coaster of the book, taking the viewer from heartwarming to gut-wrenching scenes with no Act II 'dead air' time.
Howard captures the authentic flavor of Appalachia without the sickening Hollywoodish attempt at Southern accents. The acting is believable throughout. The film couldn't have been more perfectly cast.
