On tonight’s programme Matt Tebbutt was comparing the high carbon footprint of soya and nuts compared with traditional lunch ingredients. I must point out that we import 3.2 million tonnes of soya every year and the vast majority goes into animal feed. Very little indeed is directly consumed by humans. Also he is out of date with what vegetarians eat for Christmas lunch, as well as nut roast, mycoprotein like quorn is the choice for many.
