I don't know what we were expecting when we popped in for another horror movie night, but I can say, scary was the last thing that came to our minds. Now, this may seem like a troll review, but this is supposed to be the embodiment of always keeping your expectations to a bare minimum while watching a movie. For the first half of the movie we were laughing till we had to clutch our stomachs for air. The demon's voice, combined with the acting and the CGI was hilarious on it's own but the very sight of Russel Crowe riding his scooter was enough to make us burst out laughing till we ended up in tears while clutching our stomachs. The first half was mostly pure comedy for us and I believe that perhaps that is what the director intended (maybe it's just me), but the second half got a bit tense and we were locked in for the rest of the movie. I wouldn't call it "bone-chilling scary" but I wouldn't call it a spoof either. It is a pretty balanced mix of humor and unsettling scenes to make a solid entertainer. The only complaint we had was that the movie seemed a little too fast paced at certain moments. If that were to be ignored however, it is a solid entertainer for a movie night out with your cousins (or friends). (P.S: Father Gabe is a baddie)

Another movie night, another thriller me and my cousins were eager to see. The concept of the main protagonist being a deaf and mute individual made things much more interesting as this gave the director a wide array of opportunities to play around with the sound design. We know this ain't "A Quiet Place", but we feel like the sound design could've been exploited a lil' bit more for some heart-pumping moments. A serial killer without a motive is probably the worst nightmare you could face as a handicapped person who is isolated from society. it was a game of pure survival and with limited resources at hand, it gave us a demonstration of how a cornered animal is the most dangerous thing a hunter could encounter because the main protagonist, Maddie had the power of foresight and quick wits derived from her profession as a writer. While the movie tried to throw in a few jump-scares, they were poorly executed. However, the general ambience made up for it and we believe it would've been way better if the movie focused on making the ambience more uncomfortable as opposed to getting us with cheap scares. As mentioned before, the sound design could've been better but it's a solid 3.7/5. (P.S, B**ch is the fluffiest fluffer we've seen)

It's horror movie night again, but this time we're gonna go for something a lil' different. A thriller that involves a lot of puzzles, seems good doesn't it? We didn't have major expectations before going into the movie, and I think that made our experience a little bit more satisfying. The premise is pretty simple and reminiscent of the good ole' Saw movies. 6 people from different walks of life get a strange invitation which binds them to an Escape Room and eventually they discover that they were all brought together because they had one thing in common and this thing would eventually be the cause of their death... The plot was satisfactory at best, however the rooms themselves were quite ingenious. The characters involved had a good degree of depth to them, just enough to keep the average viewer hooked to the screen. It is to note though that right from the start we all had a hunch that... [SPOILER ALERTS] ...Ben and Zoe were going to survive simply because their character troupe is overused and it constantly gives people the assumption that they are the actual "protagonists" and they would naturally survive. The end was pretty catastrophic and confusing and the pacing was very fast. It seemed as if a lot of information was trying to be squeezed into a very short time frame. But if we were to ignore that, it would be a solid watch to get you introduced to this genre. (Also, we were secretly rooting for Danny, RIP man you'll be missed ToT)

It was movie night again and The Possession of Hannah Grace was our pick of the night. We knew we would be encountering religious elements and demonic stuff, but we had no clue for what was ACTUALLY in store for us. Right from the start, we were pretty hooked onto the plot. While the story remained quite simple in its structure, it had enough panache to keep us engaged for the rest of the movie. The little details (such as the light flickering to form a cross) gave us a few "Oooh" and "Aaah!" moments. One thing we would like to highlight is that while the jumpscares hit us hard, it was predictable to an extent. While the amount of tension in the room was palpable, we could easily mitigate it simply because we were exposed to a constant degree of fear at all times, it just neutralized itself. I believe that if the jumpscares were timed differently and if the setting gave the watcher a feeling of false safety at times, it might've been a tad bit better. But all-in-all, it was a good watch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. [SPOILER ALERT] Also, RIP Dave, the Rizzler of Oz :(

So me and my cousins were just chillin at home, trying to find a movie for the night. We settled on Smile because we heard it was a very good horror flick with unsettling moments and let me tell you, it did not disappoint one bit. Right from the start when we saw the first victim of the Smile demon, we were enthralled. From the rapid cuts to the long, winding scenes, we were constantly feeling threatened and confused. None of us knew what was real or what was fake anymore and we were just as conflicted as Rose in the movie. It felt as if we were IN the mind of Rose at certain times. The ending itself kept us on the edge of our seats because we thought for a brief second that (SPOILERS AHEAD) Rose managed to actually beat the demon, but our thoughts dissolved into thin air the moment we saw Joel's creepy smile and that was when we knew that it was a trick all along. In the end, I gotta say, the Smile demon is probably the most clever antagonist we've ever seen in any horror movie. Although it could be a little bit of a slow burn at times, it is an excellent entry to anyone interested in Psychological horror. I feel like we're not gonna sleep tonight sooo...enjoy :)
