Santa Monica delivered yet again. It is rare to get games that are the finished product upon release but the God of War series is as close to flawless as I have seen. The retelling of Norse folklaw is really well composed and has a way of giving understanding to some of the stuff left open or unanswered in mythology. The characters and so well executed by the actors, particularly Loki and angrboda, the voice acting between the two is incredible and really portrayed the chemistry. The facial tracking and animation is amazing, much more noticable on the main characters. The gameplay is fun and combat mechanics are fluid and complex enough to suit different play styles. There were a couple of minor issues with camera positioning and camera lock, some of the hints from companion characters were way to quick when I was trying to figure things out for myself, sometimes the companion would say "look at that" and I couldn't figure out what they were trying to get me to see. One boss battle in particular was quite frustrating to figure out and was possibly the only part of the game where hints were underutilised. The sound team did an amazing job, some musical masterpieces in there especially toward the endgame. Not sure I got to same open mouth expression when finishing ragnarok as I did from GOW 2018 but it was pretty close. Loads of moments were i shouted expletives in excitement. Absolute benchmark for single player story driven games. 9.8/10
