This movie is hardly a movie. This is more of a Youtube video gone to theatre with its lackluster editing and various uses of violent videos to demonstrate a point. While the documentary focuses on what is coined the “Human Experience”, the amount of glamorized trauma is downright sickening and unhealthy. There are uncomfortable zoom-ins and cameras shoved in many people’s faces as if their suffering is something to be milked for content. The leads of the documentary (the three people the camera focuses on) are portrayed as if they had never heard of the plights others face despite having their own terrible experiences. The documentary obviously means well and they did hopefully take care of many people, but their efforts all turn disingenuous with how performative the movie comes across.
