This game had some enjoyable aspects, but the story was rushed and overall it was too easy. I finished the game in two days, with all the gym leaders and the champion beat. The fact that all the Pokemon in your party got exp was helpful but it took away from any real training because your Pokemon are just piggy backing off of whichever Pokemon you battle with. My starter basically did alot of the work while the other five just gained exp for no reason.
Hop, your rival was the most irritating part. He follows you every step of the way and you can barley go anywhere without him, or someone else, talking to you. His Pokemon are also not the strongest so it's hard to believe that he makes to the champion semifinals.
Common Pokemon like Meowth or Mr. mime look completely different or are a different type, which is interesting but not what someone who has played the previous games is used to.
The whole gigantamax concept is interesting in my opinion and came in handy here and there, but it was always your opponent's ace in the hole and they relied on that concept to win instead of their Pokemon's natural abilities. The game should've focused on a Pokemons natural abilities rather than making them the size of a house.
It was helpful being able to see Pokemon in the grass and knowing where they were so you could avoid them. This made repels useless though. It was frustrating at times to run into a Pokemon that was twice your best Pokemons level and you couldn't get away so your Pokemon faints in the process. Then you have to use a revive which are already expensive, or find a Pokemon center.
Moves like Fly, Surf, and Dive were useless. There is a flying taxi service, you can get a bike that allows you to travel over water, and you can't dive in deep water to find Pokemon or hidden objects. These moves can be useful in battle, but that's it.
As someone who started out playing blue, red, and yellow, I wasn't close minded to the new games, but they needed to make the games a challenge and not glamorous and easy.
