#Spoiler alert
What can I say? I am truly at a loss for words. This series is nothing short of amazing. It delves into many relatable issues faced by teenagers today, issues that have become so normalized in society today, especially from a sexual exploitation angle. Many people struggle to differentiate between what is wrong, what constitutes a crime, and what does not. (If you need proof, consider monitoring the phones of your children or teenagers periodically.)
It's a common misconception that they are "just kids," but the reality is that anyone capable of committing such acts is a criminal, without question. The capabilities of teens today can be alarming.
One scene that particularly stood out to me involved a character stating, "I cannot report because they only attempted and it didn't happen at all." This is a profoundly relatable moment, highlighting the internal struggle of knowing an incident occurred but choosing to cover it up due to a lack of faith in the justice system and fear of being labeled negatively by society.
I also loved the part where they covered the different kinds of parenting and the teenager-parent relationship.
I highly recommend this series. It portrays a very real and true depiction of where the world stands today. Many viewers will undoubtedly feel a connection to the characters.
The final scene gave me literal goosebumps when all the students came out and stood united, that shook the r*pist and got him arrested.
This is much better than the reporting scene which was covered in #SexEducation on Netflix, I find this series to be superior. It carries a seriousness that keeps viewers engaged and alert throughout the story. One particularly impactful line was, "A real friend drops you home, not sleeps with them and takes advantage of them when they're wasted." This message was essential and resonated deeply.
Contrary to some opinions that describe the series as "annoyingly slow and deviant," I believe the pacing was necessary to delve into the emotional depth of the characters.
All in all, loved it. Good job to the team.
