This is probably the most intelligent movie ever made about UFO's and the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence. The producers never should have let Gillian Anderson anywhere near it as audiences were expecting another X Files type movie plot. I'm positive that if her character were played by another unknown everybody would be calling it a sleeper hit or something to that effect.

As far as documentaries go this one is far above all others. I cant help but notice a feeling of intimacy watching these great Thespians talk about the good old / bad old days. It's a shame it didn't get any awards because it is to Broadway what Ken Burns is to THE Civil War.

This movie was a rarity among TV movies of that era with an above average script that could have held it's own in the theaters if a little more had been invested in it. Four college students create a false identity (not steal) for fun more than for financial gain. When they start getting killed off one by one clearly the last survivor should be the culprit, right ? Not necessarily so this time. I saw this waaay back then when it was first broadcast and never forgot it.

This documentary is a must see for all fans of the Back To The Future series. There are in depth interviews with the production executives and actors covering the conception and production of the films as well as the fan based culture the movies spawned. Much of the documentary covers the "superfans" from who have built their own De Lorean time machines to collectors as well as cosplay enthusiast. They are clearly the Trekies of BTTF . A tip of the hat to Jason Aron for this delightful and informative look at how an 80's film took on a life of it's own and still breathes 30 years later.
