Decent action film, but poor compared to the original. The lead doesn't have the charisma of Russell Crowe, the Colosseum events aren't a patch on the original (sharks and a Rhino are just ridiculous) and they had just run out of ideas with the last part of the film. Best things in it are the initial battle and Denzel Washington.

Maisie Adam and particularly Katherine Ryan were just awful in this poorly scripted waste of an hour. A segment in a proper A League of your Own episode yes, a very thin parody stretched over an hour very much no! I hope for Jill Scott's sake Sky come up with better material and scripts for her when she is Captain in the next A League of their Own series!
