Just watched the movie. The reason I watched it is because I'll be traveling to Japan tomorrow. Yes tomorrow!
I was expecting to see more of Japan especially when you are lost in an unfamiliar "beautiful" place. Japan is a beautiful country, culture and its people but I didn't see any of it in this movie. Then I was expecting from these actors a great story rather than boring and nonsense. Scarlett
"Charlotte" was bored and lonely married young woman, feeling like she is trapped - when actually she can be so free - free to explore the beautiful country if she would just make a little effort. Bill Murray "Bob" was an ungrateful endorser, bored in Japan, making no effort to understand and explore the country. They built a platonic connection with each other. But in reality I don't think any rich old man would let any opportunity like this slip away and not take advantage of that lonely beautiful young woman. This is the kind of movie that you regret watching until the end. I wasted my time.
