I love the original Avatar series and was looking forward to learning something new about the Legend of Aang. It is unfortunate that as the episodes progressed, the characters got increasingly soapy and sooky, missing out on the complex traits of the original ones. The actors and graphics were great, but the storytelling could have done a better job than repeating the lame old-school movies that keep trying to push for the same 'moral of the story'. In this case, that 'friendships matter' or whatever. The original series manage to do it in a subtle and much more entertaining way.
