Holy ****!! I don't even know where to start! The storyline is pretty basic and has been done before so let's get into the acting and script. The cast consists of seasoned B-list actors or professional supporting actors. The plot basically is... a couple and their daughter are on a rv trip and the daughter goes missing and everyone's looking for her. The interesting thing here is how could a cast like this so easily butcher this film? They each have a decent amount of acting experience. If they weren't getting much work before this film, they probably won't be getting any work after this epic disaster. For most of the film, I thought it was a spoof of movies like it. Anne Heche is absolutely horrific in this role. I really can't tell, but it seems like she was on drugs while playing this role. She plays the mother and shows absolutely zero genuine fear or worry when her daughter disappears. The only word I can think of here to describe her character is "goofy", so it's no wonder I thought this film was a comedy. Thomas Jane who was cast as the husband and father of the missing girl is a man who has done some excellent work on screen, so this...I just don't... there is no chemistry between he and Anne Heche; and together, they are like a live grenade... just waiting to f*** up the entire film. Instead, they collectively screw it up slowly and without any shame. They show zero interest in the fact that their daughter is missing . I'm so baffled right now...I don't even know what else to say. I don't do drugs, but I felt like I was on a really bad trip watching this movie. Please don't watch it. I can't honestly think of one type of person that would actually like this movie. As far as the script goes, my 5 yr old niece could do a significantly better job. Seriously, is this movie supposed to be a comedy? If it is, I read this all wrong. Are the lead actors on drugs? What it's going on here? You know those movies you can actually tolerate, even enjoy while being under the influence of something? Well, this film actually made me feel like I was on something and I'm 100% sober right now. Some of the scenes with Anne Heche are so funny (they were supposed to be dramatic and serious), I can actually see myself going back to watch those scenes to lift my spirits after a funeral or something. They are that absurd! The 1 star is for the dog! The dog did a stellar job in this film, and will hopefully be cast in many more features. This movie would be great to show students studying acting and film making, so they know what not to do!

At first I thought, how did i not watch this 8 yrs ago? I quickly realized it was a cosmic decision. I was meant to watch it this evening on a snowy NY night, during a pandemic..when I have absolutely nothing at all to do... nothing left to dust..no more spots on the ceiling to stare at...you get the point. This is such a fun movie to watch. Unfortunately, their was dialogue and an attempt at acting by otherwise OK actors. I would leave this movie off my resume if I has worked on it. The acting is absolutely horrible and I couldn't find one redeemable character ...sadly. I think the alien vessels (computer animated) had some skill compared to the human actors hence the 3 stars. The script is horrible period. I'm guessing..well hoping, the writers, casting directors, producers and directors were going for mockery and absurdity. I am grateful I didn't have to see Liam Neeson monopolize the screen though. If you feel like watching something that lets you remember what it feels like to be in an awkward situation, this is it. I loved the game but making a movie based on a game requires effort. I don't believe very much effort was put into the production of this movie but I can see how it profited. Now, with all that said, I would watch this again. It's so stupid it's kinda' fun. I'm the kind of gal that wakes up on a Saturday afternoon and looks for those hilarious creature features on syfy... the half shark/half crocodile/have snail movies. Stupid, thoughtless movies are great sometimes.

Let me start by saying I look forward to new Christmas themed movies every year so I had a reminder set for this one. Im about 60 minutes in and although I'm impressed with the visuals and cozy factor, I'm dissatisfied with the script. The cast holds a few very high profile names but that's where it sort of ends. I'm not even sure if it's completely kid-friendly...I guess it depends on the age. This film is a musical and I expected as much but I think I'd be more impressed with the storyline if they lifted it off my screen and put it on Broadway. The vocals and instrumentals are strong and gorgeous (Anika Noni Rose is a powerhouse) and the songs are actually pretty sweet. Lisa Davina Phillip is too awesome for words and I can comfortably say I will watch everything she is in. The choreography is cute and fun, but the dancers and young actors are suited for stage acting. It might have been different if they had pulled film actors into the mix and trained them do the dance scenes intermingled with stage dancers. It may have mellowed out the overly exaggerated scenes. These are very skilled theater actors not film actors; thus, it comes off as tacky and amateur at best. I don't know...I guess it even brings down the performances of the top names. ( heartbreaking to say since I crush on Bonneville, Whitaker, and Rashad) There is a reason why shows that are adapted to other mediums have different casts. It's overly done for me but children might definitely love the theatrics and music. They could have done without the animated "death" scene and yelling at the little girl. The irritability Mr. Scrooge portrayed in Christmas Carol was charming. Jeronicus Jangles is not charming...he's really just a total douche (again, I love the actual man Forrest Whitaker). Personally, I expected..well, hoped for something a bit more well rounded. The storyline doesn't move at all. It's something I wouldn't mind playing in the background on mute while I have holiday music playing. Oh well..it is Netflix after all and I cannot diss the attempt. After all, Netflix has kept me busy during the pandemic. I could be looking at this all wrong .. I'll let the next hour play out.🤞
