Had high hopes for the movie going in and came out disappointed. Almost half the movie felt like unnecessary filler that didn't contribute to the main theme of the story and felt that it could have been better spent explaining the door, the worm, etc. I also was expecting more of a deeper background story between the two MCs like it did in "Your Name". Didn't make sense to me why the two were so in love after such short time and the "explanation" at the end didn't do it justice at all. The whole thing about the MC being able to go in the door in the first place didn't make sense neither and the movie just felt like it lacked any kind of depth. If you have watched "Your Name" then you will definitely be disappointed if you are expecting to get the same emotions and connections you felt with the MCs. 6/10 movie, not terrible but definitely doesn't deserve all the hype and praises its getting. I understand how it's all symbolic and meaningful and what not, but is it a "fun" movie to watch? No. Story development is rather dull and character development feels a bit rushed and boring. Especially for a 2hours long movie it just didn't keep my interest and I felt no connection at all to the characters.
