Hugely disappointed . This truly is one of the most boring improbable books I have ever read. Absurd plot , cardboard stereotypical characters, stilted dialogue . On the strength of reading this I won’t be reading others by the author. Truly baffled as to how this book ever got published.

This is Ian Mckewan at his best. Wonderful book.

What a massively disappointing book . Too long by far - completely lost its way plot wise . The most absurd story line. I was so looking forward to this long awaited second novel . Thank goodness I borrowed it from the library and didn’t waste my money purchasing it!
