I don’t usually leave reviews but I just have to…. This is horribly inappropriate for an 8 year old!!! Mom leaving (like that wasn’t hard enough to explain to my kiddo) she was cheating on dad…. A reverend having a gay marriage (which totally wasn’t needed in the storyline). I literally had to skip over several parts of this book!! SO GLAD I was the one reading this to my kiddo. I can’t believe this is “okay” for a young child’s book!!! And of course NO mention of any of that when reading the back of the book!! Stay away from this book…. Not appropriate for young readers!!! Kids are going to grow up seeing and hearing things…. Naturally. But some things should be discussed in the home… as kids see, hear, ask. NOT introduced in such a sly manner hidden in a book storyline (especially when it isn’t obvious from reading the back cover storyline).
