Many of what I consider long books (over 500) pages tend to lose some of my interest but once started, I generally will finish them. Beneath A Scarlet Sky was a rare page turner for a book in this category. It was both a fascinating history, rarely told of the occupation and resistance of the Nazis in Italy. It brilliantly told the story based on thorough research of a real character Pino Lella. It is an amazing story that interweaves beauty with brutality, desperation with inspiration. It is not one of my very favorite books and I highly recommend it!
