I don't usually write reviews, but I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews for a decent thriller that I actually enjoyed.
Sure, the movie wasn't perfect, but I have to give credit to the first 15-20 minutes because they were really impressive. However, the second half became quite predictable. The writers should have given better attention to Jamie and Alia's characters, especially explaining why they turned into villains.
Gal's performance was great. Jamie and Alia were decent as well. I liked that Gal didn't fake her accent and stayed true to her character, even though it had limitations.
It seems people are forgetting that Gal's character is a smart but angry young Indian woman trying to uncover the truth about her parents. Of course, she'd be less experienced than the spies who are much older. Criticizing the character for being a bit immature is unfair in this context.
I also think many of the negative reviews stem from unrealistic expectations, possibly because some expected it to be like a MI movie. While the action scenes in "Heart of Stone" could be better, they're still good. And let's be honest, even the MI series doesn't always have a perfect plot.
The foundation of "Heart of Stone" was solid, but the story could have been better. The idea of a female lead with Mission Impossible-level action is exciting. Maybe Netflix could turn this into a series with stronger plots and characters in the future.
