Maybe I’m missing something, but this is the first book by Kristin Hannah that I stopped reading more than half way through because I was just exhausted on behalf of the characters and yet I still didn’t really care very much what happened to them. Once I was certain I was done, I read a couple of reviews, one with a spoiler, and I was very glad I made the choice to stop. Some of my favorite books of Hannah’s have been filled with the day in day out suffering of her characters, and they have been among my richest reads. I can’t explain what was missing in The Four Winds, but I hope it’s back in her next book. I rarely ever bother to write a negative review, but in this case I really hope this author will go back to her normal process as I love her books and look forward to digging into each new title.
