It isn't perfect when it's working, (which is now more than when it isn't) it's THRILLING! Many of the cast do some of their best work. Where else can you see Bob Hoskins, Gregory Hines ( a career high point) Maurice Hines, Lonette McKee, Charles Honi Coles, Jimmy Slyde, Priscilla Baskerville, Jackee, Gwen Verdon, Fred Gwynne (also a career high)and some of the best cinematography, production and costume design all celebrating some of the greatest music and one of the richest periods in history!
