Wow. Just wow. This is such a beautiful, thought provoking and emotionally stirring story. It is a poignant reminder of how delicate and susceptible some of us are, when it comes to that thing we call love. It can make us blind, naive and can even stir the strongest tensions within the heart, making it even difficult to distinguish the illusion and reality sometimes. Before The Dawn is one of those films that leaves a mark on you and stays there long after watching it.
A recently divorced woman with high hopes moves away from home to escape her past and ends up teaching at a Catholic High School, where she takes an interest in wanting to help one of her students (Jason), who is a troubled teen on the brink of dropping out and following in the footsteps of his older brother who is in jail. The teacher (Ms. Kendy) agrees to help him by tutoring him after school but things start to change when she finds herself falling for his youthful charm, which later turns into an intense feeling of excitement and happiness when they both end up sparking the fire. But in the end, is love really worth it?
Everything in this movie was perfect. The writing was outstanding, the on screen chemistry by both Alana de Freitas and Jared Scott was superb. The Cinematography was also great. It all flowed so well. It was truly a delightful watch and we'll definitely be watching it again. It left a mark.
HIGHLY recommend this wonderfully done film. An obligated must see.
