Previous live adaptations are all so dark, they always make pinocchio look so 'woody'. Both the CGI and mood in this one hit the nail on its head. Disney live adaptations should allways get the mood right. All we want is a little bit funnier, a litte bit more exciting, not have what was originally a fairy tale turned into a superhero, or horror movie. I'd say the 2022 Pinocchio remake is even way better when compared to the new Little Mermaid.

Halle Bailey is stunning. But you can't help but wonder where the budget went towards. I could imagine Triton having a more decorated palace, oh wait there is no palace. And the sisters being funnier and wittier, oh wait they barely appear for like 1 minute throughout the film. I think when people think of a live action remake, they do not typically expect the film to literally REMAKE the entire plot excluding all possible surprises and embellishments. You got to like, make full use of the resources you have to make it as huge as possible - even to the extent of adding a new powerful subplot, if the original plot is too bland. Don't expect that from this one. I bet Nickelodean can make a more stunning TV skit with that budget. Even the National Geographic.
