I liked this movie. It’s more contemporary than so many movies we’ve grown up with over the years. Plus it has absolutely none of the saccharine , nauseating 1950’s era music for a change.
The two main characters Cody and Mr Harrigan actually do connect in significant ways despite decades difference in age. The issues the adolescent Corey confronts are universal and can also be said for the old man. Whether male or female, straight or gay, lessons learned are not contrived and even the suspenseful scenes are vintage Steven King but somewhat more believable. Not too graphic and the plot flows nicely. Nothing awkward in this story, at least not in a cringeworthy sense. The writing is probably among his better work imho.
