I have just watched the first two episodes and I really enjoyed them both. If you scroll through the reviews this program is mostly for people in their 30s and older that remember this era and watching Michael become Michael. I’m a couple of years younger than Michael so it brought back memories. It’s especially interesting to hear other great players like Magic and Bird who really understand what the game of basketball is like at that level truly revere him.
I like that the series is not chronological. It goes back and forth in time thematically to show something about Michael or the team and how it developed. The relationship with management is also interesting. Jerry Krause comes across as a villain that overstated his role. As Michael said everyone in the organization is important but it’s the players that play. Jerry didn’t get that. Still, to see Michael and Scottie bully Krause shows another side of them both.
I would have given it five stars but my son who doesn’t have the same nostalgic view was bored and asked how are they going to squeeze 8 more hours out of this? I hope the remaining episodes can live up to the first two.
