Spoilers ahead! ⚠️ A book riddled with excitement, Holly Black has written a great book for children to consume. As a 12-year-old, I really did love this book, and that’s why I rate it 3 out of 5 stars. I loved how Holly Black wrote the book to a level of vividness, so I could imagine it perfectly and beautifully. There is always something that is constantly happening with lots of pressure for the 3 main characters. The one thing I loved most was Eleanor’s backstory. Especially when I read where the father said Eleanor is his most perfect creation because that was incredibly touching. I didn’t like that the author made Alice like Zach because I’ve had many friends that were guys, but I didn’t like them. Of course girls develop crushes, but I hate to see it in every novel. I also disliked that the author really only focused on Zach and mainly gave his point, but I get it because he’s sort of the main character due to the fact that he sort of caused the conflicts in the story. I wish that they focused on what Alice felt because I felt that they were negligent with her feelings and just reduced her to being worried and then being happy in the end. Overall, I love that this book is the epitome of how to write a realistic adventure, and I would recommend this book to others.
