Disappointing. "The Creator" paints itself as a deep and thought provoking science fiction movie, but behind the thin veneer, is an unimaginative and poorly written fantasy. The FX, cinematography and acting are all decent enough. The story is even structured well, hitting all the notes is a familiar (though overly formulaic) fashion. However the details, and story content, is downright awful. How anyone can stay immersed in, and enjoy, something so poorly devised is beyond me. The film is completely unbelievable in its science/technology, FX, and the decision's made by its characters. Proving once again that a large budget and a good director, are just not enough. If I didn't know better, I would think GPT 3.5 wrote this film. The industry needs to find better writers.

Two hours/episodes in at the time of writing. I have given it two stars for the budget more than anything. It is nice to look at but offers no substance. This is not lord of the rings / middle earth. Tolkein's work has been torn apart. He would be ashamed of this creation. The characters are one dimensional caricatures with few to none redeeming qualities. Take Galadriel as an example. Horrible Karen of a character. Single minded. Unintelligent. Uncaring. Unwise. Shows no real emotion. Has a mind only for revenge. And all too flat in the role. Not even the need for revenge is portrayed convincingly. The exact opposite of the real character Tokein wrote. They try to make her look good by making those around her perform worse physically. But it cannot save her character, and instead makes the entire race of elves look bad. As one of the leads in the show, her character exemplifies all that is wrong with this show. Unfortunately this trend is seen with nearly all characters shown so far. Don't even get me started with the dwarves or the "Harfoots". The show writers had a wealth of A-class writing to draw from. Decades of carefully written lore, world building and character design. They used none of it. Instead they give us this flat, unintelligent, travesty. Which dishonours the original works of the author, and offers nothing in return beyond its budget.

Everything that made the books great has been removed with the precision of a neurosurgeon. What we are left with is a movie with no relation to the books other than by name, and a lazy plot that has been reused more times than there are atoms in the universe. Yes, its that bad. Imagine spy kids, but about 1% as good. You now know everything about the movie.

Bad writing, sub-par acting, b-movie set design and FX. Actually... most b-movies are better than this. Every part of the plot, including the obvious ending plot twist, are just copied from other films that do it way better. There is nothing original or interesting in this garbage heap of a screenplay.

This feels like a CW teen show. The only difference is the budget is larger, and there is more gore and foul language. On a positive note, the acting is ok in most scenes. No standout performances, but passable enough to not hold the show back in any way. The writing however, is on the lower end quality wise for a CW teens show, and this is where the production should have spent their time and money improving. There is nothing original, or believable. But more importantly, there is nothing written well enough to actually be interesting.
