Most of the reviews are saying this is fresher than Disney films as of lately, and that's true. There are some great comedic parts, but Emma Stone over acted, the non-original score inconsistent technologies made the time setting confusing and and the movie predictable as I could literally tell you what was going to happen because the songs in the score were so over used.
It also didn't choose a clear tone or theme. It bounced between revenge is bad, revenge is good. Being mean to those closest too you is cool, then not cool, then cool again. It's tone bounced from comedic, to very serious and traumatic... making the traumatic scenes almost comical. The pay offs such as the parallels drawn from the beginning of the movie to the end also were too bluntly obvious due to the constant narration of an older Cruella.
The movie was carried by the clearly CGI dogs, Arti, and well.. yeah that's it.
It bothers me because the movie had the potential to be great, and it feel short and felt rushed.
