I have recently finished reading the novel trilogy. I watched the movie and was beyond disappointed with the execution. While the casting was impressive, it lacked character development or even the chance for the viewer to form opinions on the characters. The movie simply failed to represent the novels accurately at all. The native species in the series (the spakle) are one of the most important parts of the series. Yet the movie adaptation barely showed them. Not to mention they looked NOTHING like how they are described in the books. The movie adaptation was an absolute bust of an incredible novel series and failed to execute it well
