Spoiler alert: Some cheesy parts but overall a very original horror that I look forward to watching again. The story weaves reality and mysticism so you never really know what’s real, but I believe that is intentional. I originally thought this was going to be a cheesy, jump thriller, but I found it to be a tragic and humanized look at psychosis and schizophrenia from a first person perspective, including how trauma passes from generation to generation.

You either love the writing style or hate it. I agree with other reviews that the beginning is slow but once you’re into it, you can’t put it down. There’s so much depth if you’re open to it. A story about grief, loss, love, and a blur of the lines between reality and imaginary. I love that you never really know if Leah actually came back or if it was Miri’s way of dealing with her grief. The end leaves you wanting to read it again.
