The criticisms about the “wokeness” of the show are hilarious. It’s remarkable that they can be so dense and yet so fragile at the same time. The idea that there are an unrealistic number of gay people…as if LGBTQ+ people don’t regularly surround themselves with other people who are LGBTQ+. It’s sort of like saying The Help has an unrealistic number of black people. These people merely existing in the world bother you so much. If you want to criticize, criticize the depravity in the show—which these people likely attribute to the LGBTQ+ presence but, even in the show is NOT specific to gender, sexuality, or identity. In fact, the cis, hetero, white characters are just as if not more depraved.
My criticisms of the show is around how there are damn near no likable characters. They are all horrible except a couple who are barely in it. While that is the point, it makes it somewhat hard to watch. I literally don’t care about any of them. I can see how people who think shock value is entertaining would like this. SPOILER: the images of 80+ people’s flesh melting of their bodies, gouging, bodies being slashed up…the cheap thrills of gore and pain, they are the most notable thing in the whole series… but imo they are lazy writing. The entire series could have easily been condensed into 3-4 episodes, and should have.
