As a lover of limited series and reinventing or updating literary masterpieces in the live action genre so that as many people as possible can enjoy them, this series was a wonderful success. The cast was talented and interesting, the story modernized but not forgotten, and it was dark and eerie enough to resonate Poe’s voice throughout. Episodes 1 to 7 were 5 stars. Episode 8 requires some tweaks in that Madeline’s basement soliloquy was forced and unnecessary and her odd appearance at the end with emerald eyes was subpar to the rest of the horror. This is definitely what I have come to expect from Netfix’s innovative and binge worthy programming.
