This movie requires anyone viewing it to heavily lean into it. It’s an experience that you have to immerse yourself in in order to understand. If you like casually viewing movies without paying much attention this isn’t for you. Every exchange of words or short shot directly contribute to the themes of the story but require deep thought and making connections on your own. People giving it hate is from misunderstanding what the director wanted to do. The end is what causes the most controversy. There is very “disturbing” scenes, but they are not nonsense. It contributes to the story, and wants people to feel a certain way as a sort of mockery like “you can’t even handle this” which is ironic given the other themes. It calls certain members of society out and tackled a difficult real life issue in a thoughtful and calculated way. Like it or not it doesn’t deserve any docking of points based on execution alone. I will conclude with saying it is a powerful movie for those who understand it’s messages, and I view it as a misunderstood masterpiece. If you’re into real life horror based on current and past issues of society and don’t mind engaging with movies I highly recommend this movie.
