At first underrated by critics. I thought this rendition had very good messaging, on old familiar story presented in a more contemporary light. The messaging resounded as especially encouraging at this time. Despite obvious stereotyping, perhaps part of the story to embrace just as the audience is asked to relate to the villagers and to look more deeply and not simply judge a book by its cover, this movie strode past conceptual limitations and came across to me as a pretty great film.
