God of the Woods is overall an entertaining and engrossing read, certainly for the first few hundred pages. It is worth reading, but do not expect a thriller: this is a quiet mystery tale with strong female characters and (an attempt at) a commentary on social hierarchy. After a certain point, it feels like there are too many narrators and there is too much focus on characters that get forgotten and never mentioned again. The ending is satisfying, and also somehow flat in juxtaposition to how certain aspects of the story were built up. Moore writes in a beautiful, poetic tone, making the book an overall enjoyable experience. However, it could have been polished more using a stronger editorial hand.
