To those who have never read the original book, or who do not have any idea of the achievements of the Chola Empire, the storyline of PS-1 will seem patchy at times. It is just too difficult to condense a very complicated 5 book series into even a two part movie. That said, the movie is indeed a must watch. The cinematography, the action scenes and the script are crisp and to the point which keeps the viewers engaged. Karthi as Vanthiyathevan is absolutely adorable. Vikram and Jayam Ravi are extremely convincing as strong warriors and leaders of men. Trisha and Aishwarya infuse both glamour, as well as guile, into the proceedings effortlessly. Go watch it… and you will not be disappointed. 😊
