I think to read this you need a really good sense of whats going on. what that era was like, gender roles and a rough idea of what goes on in the play. I've read a lot of comments talking about how it 'spoils' it at the beginning when that is to use dramatic irony. If the play annoys you for this and right at the end, then it has done what it meant to do. It's an interesting book and gives you a different perspective on romance especially in different eras. I'd say it's not all that it's said to be but it is a very good play and tackles some ideas of conflict, gender and family issues
