It's an interesting take on the genres of sci-fi & horror, though probably could have left the horror part out and did well enough. It does have a bit of "jump scares" in the first 1 to 3 Episodes, but later gets more into the story after Episode 3 - It does seem to drag out a bit, I caught myself skipping 10 seconds at a time to get through portions of Episodes. Its a sad story, that honestly has no real good resolution for our main character(s) which is why I deducted a star.
I would recommend to watch it, but would warn viewers that it will get predictable at a certain point, but still worth the watch.
Now, for the reason I even wrote a review - SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT - SO READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!!!!
********************************************************************************************************************************************************************
I'll just jump right in by saying it is in fact a paradox - Which is why I am annoyed a bit by many other reviewers bringing up the question "How does she give birth to herself?" . . . If you are going to use the word "PARADOX" that is *exactly* how she does -_- (Am I the only one who watched Futurama . . . lol)
Valee = A, Valee's Husband Yutthachai = B, Min = C . . . A & C run off, C gets transported to past - Days later A also meets up in same time as C - Thus A and C are on one single time line albeit in the past. A gets killed, leaving only C to remain - C grows up, becoming A onto the correct time line. A meets B, and the whole process continues - We call that a paradox.
Hence the mother Panida's warning later in her years. A/C replaced a person who no longer exists, but because it happens when C is younger, it gives time for the person in the wrong time line to grow up and assume the role of the missing person (in this case, Valee) - It honestly doesn't matter who the Husband is to Valee/Min, all that matters is that Valee/Min grows up, has a kid, and goes home at some point.
What I *do* have an issue with is, the haunting aspect of the show - It's honestly irrelevant and feels much more like filler material to spook watchers - As we realize towards the end, the whole time the ghost was Valee/Min herself . . . Haunting . . . Her *younger* self which makes no sense, I do not understand why she would do that as a ghost. I think the series should have focused more on the sci-fi portion over trying to mix in horror. If anything, the spirit of Valee/Min was better off haunting her older self, to try and get her *out* of the house - This is why it doesn't sit right within the plot.
The better question in this plot isn't "How did she give birth to herself", it's when did the first iteration start? Because we already know the cycle started in 1991/92 when Panida (OG Valee's mother) lost her husband and daughter and she spiraled into messing with a time machine, for a lack of better words.
You can literally watch this series, over and over and over again, because it starts and ends, at the same point aka a loop/paradox - Leaving out the first iteration. If they made a sequel, it could go more into that, or it could go into breaking the paradox as well, maybe even in the same sequel.
