I was trying to look at this without comparing it to the ‘Darling buds of May’. The Larkins (so far) is totally charmless. The villages racial make up is, made up, no Kentish village was this diverse. Marriette, depicted as a strong, independent, youngish woman, most probably would have left home years ago. So, it’s charmless and unbelievable. Will I be watching again, probably, but not with any enthusiasm. The writer should seek employment elsewhere, this is politically correctness gone mad.
