Hardly any imagery in what should be an amazing magical world. It is hard to go on a journey with the character if one cannot get the author to describe details of the food or creatures along the way. I feel Beagle took the easy way out by simply stating 'I don't know." It is frustrating feeling blind on a quest in a magical land... The rape Beagle introduced into the story was unnecessary, off putting and of course undetailed, leaving the reader to guess what happened. Again, unpleasant. To make matters worse, Beagle needlessly reminds the reader of the rape throughout the rest of the book. Confusing to read, and still in need of editing.
