It's not necessary to base your decision to watch this show on these comments. It at first is an accurate depiction of the seedy side of highly romanticized Tinseltown (minus drugs I would say) but evolves into an alternate reality built upon some true events. Similar to "The Plot Against America". This is where these comments go sour. I don't think the shows intention was to solely expose the dark side of Hollywood and it's perpetuation of racism, sexism, ageism and homophobia. It shows what could have been if people were less afraid to take chances, risk their lives, follow what was right in their heart and not profits. It makes you wonder what we would be today if people with decision power, were this good. I teared up multiple times and got goosebumps at every social victory. I admitedly am a sucker for a soundtrack with big band swing and Gershwin put to a romanticized post WWII era so I might be biased but I loved this show. It inspires me to think about injustices that still exist today all around us.
