I like many others I suspect wish that I could give this film not even 0 stars but -1 stars.
I wouldn't mind this film as much if it was not based on a Jane Austen book. To say it is even based on Austen is a joke. It has one of the worst scripts I have ever heard. The fact that it takes one of Austens most famous quotes ("Now nothing! … There could have been no two hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison, no countenances so beloved. Now they were as strangers; nay, worse than strangers, for they could never become acquainted. It was a perpetual estrangement.”) changes it and then makes it a pathetic joke is incredible to me. This movie tries so hard to make it seem relevant today but instead makes it some teen, really bad chick flick. The acting is so bad and this is amplified or maybe because the script is so woeful.
I'm actually shocked that anyone could read this script and want to be involved. It makes me think they must not be a fan of her writings and if they are not then why bother being part of the project and make this movie. In my opinion the only good thing about the movie are the sets, costumes, locations and furniture which are pretty to look at.
