This serial is crazy. First Jhanak and Anirudh marry just like millions of Indians marry in real life and then they unilaterally declare that they don’t recognize this marriage. No legal separation, nothing (at least not until they nullify their marriage later). Really? In that case millions of couples in India who got married this traditional way can declare that they don’t recognize their marriages and walk out. Why the need for divorce courts and the lengthy and painful divorce process?
And the entire enlightened Basu khandaan comes up with this brilliant idea of wiping off Jhanak’s sindoor and declaring that the marriage finished. This is laughable.
Next Anirudh and Arshi’s marriage is stopped in between. No kanyadaan, no sindoor, no phera but they go around declaring themselves married and everyone seems to be in agreement on this. Illogical and senseless.
And most of the ladies in this show are downright toxic. Shristi Mukherjee is literally a criminal and has faced no punishment so far. Bipasha and Tanuja are vitriolic. This trio is downright vicious. Not one positive trait in them. And the grandmother cannot make up her mind whether she wants to be nice or not. She keeps changing her stance as she pleases.
The only thing the entire Basu khandaan is right about Jhanak is that she never gives a straight reply to anything. In any situation, Jhanak beats around the bush, contorts her face in a million different ways and gives a lengthy indirect answer. And Anirudh’s character is confusing. If he really loves Jhanak, why can’t he openly admit to it before his marriage to Arshi? Plus, he lies through his teeth many times. He is literally cheating on his fiancé.
