People who rate this less than 3 hate musicals or have no media literacy. This is a GOOD movie. Not great. Not the Joker 1 but a good movie.
The whole movie is a metaphor for how society treats people with mental health issues.
In Joker 1, Arthur felt invisible. Then he became the Joker and he felt on top of the world.
In Joker 2 he is in trial. His lawyer tries to convince him and the world that Arthur is a sick person and NOT the Joker. Joker is Arthur's sick fantasy.
Throughout the movie we see him being manipulated into being the Joker, but an old acquaintance breaks him out of that.
At the end of the movie, the director had the audience egging Arthur to become the Joker. That's the metaphor. The audience became the manipulators along with everyone else in the movie egging him on to become a monster, rather than seeing him get the help he needs. As his lawyer said, she was the only one who saw Arthur. Not even the audience saw him as Arthur anymore. She said he needed to be in a real hospital, not Arkham to get the help he deserves. Instead, we wanted him to become the Joker.
An excellent story that, although it was right in front of you throughout the whole movie, was somehow missed by 90% of the people who watched the movie.
A really good film.
