I wanted to like 65: I truly did. I put aside the overwhelmingly negative response I had heard, and finally decided to sit down and watch it recently.
Well, the overwhelmingly negative response was justified.
Although there are a few good scenes of suspense, I can ultimately count them all on one hand. The movie is just... Boring. The plot is thin at best, our reasons for supporting the characters are weak, and while I didn't find the VFX as bad as others did, it's also not something to write home about most of time. I actually found myself skipping through scenes, something I typically never do while watching a movie.
It's also clear that no one bothered to pay any attention to the criticism behind movies such as Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. The dinosaur designs are painfully inaccurate, and that's if the creature even existed in the first place at all. The only creature that was particularly interesting was the final one we see, and it hardly gets any screen time before a lackluster death. While this might seem insignificant, when one of the first blockbuster dinosaur movies that isn't Jurassic Park related can't be bothered to do something so minor, yet so major... It's bothersome. There isn't even a single herbivore in the entire movie.
Altogether, I'd say it's worth watching if you're truly desperate for a blockbuster dinosaur movie and you're not in the mood for anything JP related. Otherwise, don't bother.
Also, what the hell happened to the woman left behind in the remnants of the ship? Was she simply left behind to die? Who knows. I'm not watching the movie again in hopes of an answer to something even the directors didn't care about.
