Wish I could give it a zero. Kept track of the jokes AGAINST marginalized groups, and got a solid list going. I want to note that jokes about any of these communities can be genuinely funny & in good humor if done correctly.
The gay community, the Middle East in general, Arabic people, the Jewish community all become the brunt of the jokes, and generally this film is anti-women (ironic considering this is supposed to be somehow an empowering movie).
What had me most flabbergasted is that as an actual plot point, the movie makes Muslim women disrobe and take off their headwear to show their hair, and then frame it as empowerment. Are you kidding? Then the four women take their clothes & wear them while making sexual gestures. Honestly disgusting, and not something that would even hold in 2010 when it was made.
