I see why the game gets hate, but it's a reboot. It's not supposed to be an exact copy of the past few games. DmC Devil May Cry is a solid 9/10 for me.
The story was great, the new approach to the characters was even better. (Especially with Vergil... That shook me.)
The only thing I didn't like was how there weren't more things to collect.

It was different. Death Note went its own way instead of following being completely like the anime. I don't see a reason to bash something just because of its changes to the original series.
