Look the book is alright i dont mind it. but it really bothered me that some of the themes get contradicted, the main thing that stood out to me was: "(I must have bullied him in Mami’s belly because it’s clear I stole all the nutrients.) He wears glasses because he’s afraid of poking an eye out by using contacts. " the book has strong anti body shaming messages which is great, and yet the main character body shames her brother for being skinny. people need to realize that a man can be self conscious/insecure about being clinically underweight the same way that a woman can be self conscious/insecure about being overweight. they are both body shaming and neither is okay.
